Wings & Wonders: Birdwatching and Photography at the Biomuseo
Description
Tucked between the bold geometry of Frank Gehry’s Biomuseo and the edge of the Panama Canal, the museum’s gardens offer a surprisingly rich encounter with nature. In a single visit, it’s possible to spot over 20 species of birds—a testament to how vibrant this compact space truly is. Hummingbirds, flycatchers, parrots, and tanagers flit among native trees, while iguanas, butterflies, and the occasional agouti add to the scene. All of it unfolds with sweeping views of the Puente de las Américas, the first and most iconic bridge spanning this legendary waterway.
This experience blends expert birding and hands-on photography instruction in one of Panama City’s most unique locations. You’ll be guided by a top-tier local bird expert and Panama’s only Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, working together to help you slow down, observe with intent, and create stronger, more compelling images. The walk concludes with a visit inside the Biomuseo, where striking exhibits explore the geological and biological forces that shaped Panama—and ultimately made this incredible biodiversity possible.
